What Is CTA (Call To Action) ?

by / Thursday, 05 September 2013 / Published in Dentist Marketing

A Call To Action (CTA) is perhaps the most important thing you can have on your website. If you took away the fancy styling, the colors and the images, and you had nothing left but a CTA, that would still be very good. Of course a nice-looking website has its benefits as well, I’m just trying to offer a piece of advice.

What is a CTA?

The most standard CTA is a box that sets in the top half of your website. Usually it’s located below the header (logo, navigation menu, contact info, etc.) and above the content. It’s also usually very prominent on home pages and placed in the sidebar or footer of inner pages. If these terms don’t make sense to you check out our blog post on Website Architecture to get a firm grasp.

The Call To Action can take many forms however, and it’s not limited to that one location or just the home page.

Why is it so important?

Without a very tangible action for your visitors to take, their visit to your dental website would be meaningless. On the internet, people need to be told what to do. A CTA is a very firm “Click Here!” concept that sticks well. There’s usually a meaning for the action, such as “Click Here to get 25% off your next visit” or “Click here to send us a message” or “Click here to submit an entry into the contest!”

And by putting that message in a prominent spot on your website, you’re ensuring people don’t skip over it.

Well-crafted CTAs have been the cause of a surge of new traffic for our clients. We’re being very serious about this because they work so well!
